If you are dealing with this error message, and you are using Acrobat or Reader on Windows, there is a simple workaround. And maybe stay away from the Adobe Reader install package you have at the moment - mark it suspect. It is definitely a PDF file. Go to File, print, advanced button at the bottom, check the "Print as image" check box.
