If you move your build directory after following Pavel's steps, then you will break the toolchain even if you're targetting the correct qmake. OpenSSL's build scripts are not clever enough to handle two different platform builds in sequence. Using dmake.exe with Visual C++, or nmake.exe with GCC will not work.
